THE SUSPENSION BRIDGE OVER THE DANUBE IN THE BRAILA AREA IN ROMANIA
Braila Danube Bridge will be the third bridge over Danube in Romania, and 5th in Europe in terms of span.
The project was awarded to a consortium formed of Astaldi and Japanese IHI.
- Lenght of bridge:1,974.30 m, of which 1,120 m main span, and 489.65 on Braila foot, and 364.65 m on Tulcea foot.
- Height of bridge: 47 m
- Vertical clearing: 38 m (maritime clearing)
- Width of bridge: 31.70 m : 22 m for 2x2 road lanes (3.5 m each) + 2x1 shoulders (2.5 m each) + 2 passenger/bike routes (2.8 m each)
- Lenght of project: 23.413 km, of which: Braila - Jijila main road 19.095 km and connection road with DN22 Smardan - Macin 4.328 km
- Financing: EU POIM 2014-2020
- Estimated cost: 2 B Ron (approx 440 m Euro)
Besides the suspended bridge, the project also includes 17 km of new road, four lanes about 4 km, and from the roundabout towards Smardan, respectively Jijila, to remain in one strip per sense. The project also includes about 32 structures (bridges), of which 13 are with openings larger than 14 m. This is the only bridge suspended over the Danube, the largest investment not only in Romania but also as a European investment in a project of such complexity.

Supervision of construction works for Sebes – Turda Motorway, Lot 4
The scope of the contract was the supervision of the construction of 16.3 km of new motorway. The contract is implemented according to similar FIDIC Yellow Conditions of Contract.
The services included:
a) Assisting the Beneficiary in approval the working drawings issued by the Constructor;
b) Assisting the Beneficiary during the project implementation;
c) Approving the materials, the equipment to be used, etc, in its quality of Beneficiary Representative;
d) Administrating the works contract as per its conditions;
e) Administrating the financial aspects of the project;
f) Plans properly the working activities;
g) Issuing the Reports as it is required;
h) Training for the Beneficiary staff.
TECNIC Consulting Engineering was in charge with the overall management of the contract.

Supervision of rehabilitation works on R1 chisinau - ungheni - sculeni road
Contract RSPSP/W4/01: "Rehabilitation of R1 Chisinau - Ungheni - Sculeni Road km 6+446 - km 24+050"
Contract RSPSP/W4/02: "Rehabilitation of R1 Chisinau - Sculeni - Road km 24+050 - km 68+250"
Contract RSPSP/W4/03: "Construction of R1 Ungheni Bypass km 96+200 - km 103+913"
The consultant was required to undertake the role of the “Engineer” as defined in the FIDIC MDB Harmonized Edition of the Conditions of Contract for Construction, March 2006. The works under the Project comprise the resurfacing and strengthening of existing roads in the area of Moldova west of Chisinau.
The works under these contracts comprise new construction for Contract RSPSP/W4/03, and leveling operations and cold in-place recycling of existing pavement, mixing the recycling asphalt pavement material with new aggregates, stabilizing with cement, placing and compacting the recycled mixture for contracts RSPSP/W4/01 and RSPSP/W4/02. Bridgeworks include construction of a new bridge, as well as repairs to sidewalks, embankment protection, repairs and modifications to infrastructures and bridge decks, waterproofing and expansion joint to existing bridge decks and various minor remedial works for existing bridges.
The Services to be provided by the Consultant include: (a) establishment of systems of managerial control for civil works contracts, (b) the Engineer’s administration of Contracts, (c) control over estimated works quantities and contract outcome costs, in monitoring the progress of the Works and technical records; (d) control and acceptance of contractor’s interim and final payment certificates; (e) the acceptance and/or approval of Contractors’ key staff, insurances, guarantees, licenses, programs, method statements, traffic management plans, safety measures, suppliers and materials for incorporation in the works, the quality assurance and control plans, laboratory provisions and execution of the testing program, subcontractors, plant, equipment and environmental protection; (f) direct supervision of the works and monitoring of progress; (g) the preparation of progress, technical and contractual reports, (h) execution of the control tests of all materials intended for incorporation into permanent works and the all executed works

Supervision of rehabilitation works on R1 chisinau - ungheni - sculeni road
Contract RSP/W5/01: “Rehabilitation of R1 Chisinau – Ungheni – Sculeni Road km 74+177 – km 96+200”
The consultant was required to undertake the role of the “Engineer” as defined in the FIDIC MDB Harmonized Edition of the Conditions of Contract for Construction, March 2006.
The main works include reconstruction of road pavement, cold recycling, demolition of small bridges, reconstruction of bridges, demolishing and construction of culverts, construction of drainage facilities, relocation of utility lines, and realignment of 0.52 km long section is foreseen. A cold in-place recycling of asphalt concrete pavement is to be applied for this road section. From km 78+900 to km 79+420 a slight realignment is foreseen to improve the road safety at the hairpin section including the construction of a climbing lane according to the drawings. This section includes also rehabilitation of 3 bridges. The lengths of the bridges are 12 m, 51 m and 22 m, the widths 14.5 m, 12 m, and 11 m, respectively.

Supervision of rehabilitation works on R33 Hincesti - lapusna Road
Contract RSP/W5/01: “Rehabilitation of R33 Hincesti - Lapusna Road, km 0+000 – km 37+200”
The consultant was required to undertake the role of the “Engineer” as defined in the FIDIC MDB Harmonized Edition of the Conditions of Contract for Construction, March 2006.
The works under the Project comprise the resurfacing and strengthening of existing roads in the Central Western Moldova. Safety and environmental protection requirements are included.
Rehabilitation of road mainly consist of pavement rehabilitation including milling and applying a structural overlay. For safety reasons construction of roundabout is foreseen at the intersection with R34 road. There are sections were cold recycling or new construction has to be applied depending on the existing road alignment and the parameters to be achieved for the rehabilitated road. The works of this section will also include rehabilitation of 9 bridges with the lengths ranging from 2 to 35 meters and the widths ranging from 10 to 14 meters. Road safety devices like single metal guardrails at the road edges, marking and signing, bus-bays, pedestrian crossing facilities, traffic lights, sidewalks etc. have to be provided.

Technical assistance services for construction works supervision of road and railway infrastructure access to bridge over Danube at calafat - vidin
The scope of the contract was the supervision of the construction works of the road infrastructure – 8.7 km and the connected railway – 3.6 km on the Romanian territory. There are approximately 3 km to motorway standards with two lanes in each direction and 4 overpasses away from where the bridge ends on the Romanian side of the Danube to the existing highway DN 56 (E 79) from Craiova and Calafat.
• Technical Assistance services as FIDIC Engineer (according to Works Contract General Conditions) - the Engineer’s administration of Contract;
• Establishment of systems of managerial control for works contract;
• Direct supervision of the works and monitoring of progress;
• Assurance of monitoring, assessment and orientation of Contractor’s activities in order to perform works according to the quality requested in the technical design, under established deadlines and under approved budget;
• Inform the Beneficiary about the physical and financial status of the works, highlighting differences occurred between the planned level and the achieved one;
• More particularly issuing recommendations in order to solve the problems occurred during works execution, and generally administering the works contract;
• Control over estimated works quantities and contract outcome costs, in monitoring the progress of the Works and technical records;
• Control and acceptance of contractor’s interim and final payment certificates;
• The acceptance and/or approval of Contractors’ key staff, insurances, guarantees, licenses, programs, method statements, traffic management plans, safety measures, suppliers and materials for incorporation in the works, the quality assurance and control plans, laboratory provisions and execution of the testing program, subcontractors, plant, equipment and environmental protection;

dr. victor gomoiu children's clinical hospital
The Dr. Victor Gomoiu Children’s Clinical Hospital is a specialist hospital for the management of neurological conditions. It is located in Bucharest, in district 2 of the city and is well-regarded in Romania. It is also the oldest dedicated children’s hospital in Romania and opened in 1927. In 2013 the Bucharest Municipality started one of the most important projects in the health sector - rehabilitation and extension of the Victor Gomoiu hospital. The project was concluded in 2018.
